Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire killed 24 Palestinians and wounded dozens more on Wednesday in multiple attacks on tents sheltering displaced families and residential areas across the Gaza Strip, while Israeli forces simultaneously handed over the bodies of 54 Palestinians along with 66 boxes containing human remains through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Medical teams reported that the fatalities occurred in several locations outside areas under Israeli military control.

In Deir al‑Balah, in central Gaza, an Israeli strike hit a tent on Abu ‘Arif Street, killing 11‑year‑old Ghada Ali Fathi Razayna and her father Ali Fathi Mustafa Razayna, 45. Another strike on the Shati’ Refugee Camp in Gaza City killed Mohammad al‑Habeel Hamada.

Hospitals in central Gaza confirmed additional casualties from an attack on tents sheltering displaced families east of Deir al‑Balah, where two Palestinians, including a child, were killed, and several others injured.

In Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, three Palestinians died when an Israeli helicopter struck a tent in the al‑Mawasi area, followed by a drone attack that targeted ambulance crews attempting to evacuate the wounded.

Later, Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis received three more bodies after Israeli artillery shelled homes in the Qizan Rashwan neighborhood, an area outside Israeli control.

In Gaza City, four members of the Haboush family were killed when artillery fire struck homes on Yafa, Sikka, and al‑Hajar streets in the al‑Tuffah neighborhood.

Medical sources said that 14 of the day’s fatalities occurred in Gaza City, with the remainder spread across the central and southern regions.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reported an initial toll of 23 killed and 38 wounded, noting that rescue teams continue to search targeted areas and that the number may rise.

Later in the evening, Israeli forces transferred the bodies of 54 Palestinians, along with 66 boxes containing human remains, to Gaza via the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The bodies and remains were transported to the Shifa Medical Complex, where teams began processing them according to established forensic protocols and in coordination with official bodies and specialized committees.

The Ministry of Health said its teams are working to document and identify the bodies and remains before handing them over to families.

Human rights organizations continue to demand that Israel disclose the fate of the missing and release all bodies it continues to withhold.

It is worth mentioning that at least 556 Palestinians have been killed and 1,500 wounded since the start of the “ceasefire” on October 11, 2025, with 717 bodies recovered during that time.

Since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the cumulative toll has reached 71,824 killed and 171,608 injured.

Israeli strikes have killed at least 24 Palestinians, including eight children, and wounded at least 38 in separate strikes across Gaza since Wednesday morning, medical officials said.

According to the IDF, the strikes are a response to an Israeli officer being severely wounded in northern Gaza overnight into Wednesday, after armed gunmen opened fire on troops near the Yellow Line delimiting Israeli-controlled Gaza.

The army said it views the attack as a "blatant violation of the current cease-fire agreement," and announced it targeted – and killed – at least three senior Hamas and Islamic Jihad commanders.

On Wednesday afternoon, a young girl and a man were killed by a strike on a tent east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza and eight others were wounded. A drone strike on the Shati refugee camp in northern Gaza killed another person and wounded several additional Palestinians.

Earlier on Wednesday, an Israeli strike on a tent housing displaced Palestinians in al-Muwasi in the southern Gaza Strip killed two people, including Hussein al-Samiri, a paramedic on duty, the Red Crescent said, adding that eight others were wounded in the strike.

Health officials told Reuters that Samiri was killed after he rushed to help victims of an initial strike and was hit by a second attack at the same location.

The Israeli military said that one of the strikes it conducted in southern Gaza targeted a senior Hamas militant, Bilal Abu Assi, who it claimed led the infiltration into Kibbutz Nir Oz as part of the October 7 attack.

According to the IDF, Abu Assi was a Nukhba platoon commander, who the army alleged "likely took part" in holding deceased hostages in Gaza, and led "terror attacks against IDF troops throughout the war."

It added that it is "aware of the claim that several uninvolved civilians, including a medical staff member, were hit in the strike," noting that "steps were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians as much as possible, including the use of surveillance and precise munitions. The IDF regrets any harm caused to uninvolved civilians."

The IDF later announced that both the strike on Abu Assi as well as a separate strike on Islamic Jihad commander Ali Raziana – who led the group's northern Gaza brigade – killed the intended targets. It later

According to the military, Raziana "oversaw the holding of hostages in captivity" in northern Gaza, and was "responsible for coordinating with Hamas to advance and execute terror attacks against IDF troops."

It later also announced a third successful assassination of Hamas militant Muhammad Issam Hassan al-Habil, who it alleged killed female army spotter Noa Marciano as she was held in captivity in Gaza.

Marciano, 19, from the central Israeli city of Modi'in, served as a spotter at the Nahal Oz base. She was killed at Al-Shifa Hospital, and her body was retrieved by the Israeli army in November 2023, only four days after Hamas published a video showing her alive.

Hamas said Israel's action undermined efforts to stabilize the cease-fire. In a statement, the group called for "immediate international pressure to halt violations."

"The genocidal war against our people in the Gaza Strip continues," said Dr. Mohamed Abu Selmiya, director of Gaza City's Shifa Hospital, in a Facebook post. "Where is the ceasefire? Where are the mediators?"

Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli troops fired on a building in the Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City, killing at least 11 people, most from the same family, said Shifa Hospital, which received the bodies. The dead included two parents, their 10-day-old girl Wateen Khabbaz, her 5-month-old cousin, Mira Khabbaz, and the children's grandmother.

"What did this child do? …. Why are they killing the children?" asked a relative of the family, Mohammad Jaser.

Later, two men and a 12-year-old boy were killed in Israeli shelling in Kizan Abu Rashwan, south of Khan Yunis, according to Nasser Hospital, which received the bodies.

Palestinian media also reported that three people were killed by gunfire at a tent in Gaza City's Zeitoun neighborhood, including a five-month-old infant.

According to Palestinian media outlets, those killed in Wednesday's Israeli strikes include 13-year-old Rital Mahmoud Habouch, 16-year-old Bilal Ashraf Habouh and 5-month-old Saker Badr al-Hatto in Gaza City, as well as 12-year-old Farid Abu Setta in Khan Yunis. A commander from the militant group Islamic Jihad and his 11-year-old daughter were among those killed in strikes on Wednesday, said relatives.

"While we were sleeping in our house, the tank shelled us and the shells hit our house, our children were martyred - my son was martyred, my brother's son and daughter were martyred... We have nothing to do with anything, we are peaceful people," said Abu Mohamed Habouch, speaking at a funeral for his family.

A total of 556 Palestinians have been killed by Israel and 1,500 wounded since the cease-fire went into effect, according to Gaza health officials, while Israel's military says four Israeli soldiers have been killed.

Rafah crossing partially opened

Gaza's Health Ministry said on Wednesday that about 22,000 patients and wounded people are waiting to leave the Strip to receive medical treatment.

An Egyptian source familiar with the details told Haaretz that Israel is dragging its feet regarding entry and exit through the Rafah crossing, claiming that this is a deliberate policy aimed at preventing a mass return on one hand, while allowing many to leave on the other.

"Egypt wants to speed up the entry of tens of thousands of Palestinians into Gaza, while Israel only wants to accelerate the exits – that won't happen," the source said. According to the IDF, around 60 Palestinians crossed in and out of Gaza through the crossing on Wednesday.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), on Tuesday, 16 patients and 24 companions crossed through the Rafah crossing. The organization also reported that it has set up a facility on the Gaza side of the crossing, where returning residents can meet medical and psychological teams, receive food and water, and get information about humanitarian services in the Strip. The statement added that patient transfers continued through the crossing on Wednesday, and that the entry of civilians is also expected overnight into Thursday.

In a statement issued by Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, including Hamas, they accused Israel of implementing a systematic and deliberate policy against civilians in the Gaza Strip. The statement cited testimonies from residents returning to Gaza, who reported harm to women and children, interrogations, threats, and attempts at extortion. The statement said that this is part of a broader effort to impose a new reality on the ground, serve political and military objectives, encourage migration, and make the Strip uninhabitable.
