HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained five Palestinian youths during clashes that erupted between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the Beit Ummar town in northern Hebron in the southern West Bank, on Friday afternoon.
Activist Muhammed Ayyad Awad identified the detainees as Qais Mohammed Kamel Abu Maria, 15, Wahid Hamdi Abu Mariya, 16, Nasser Abed al-Hamid Abu Maria, 16, Sayil Jihad Ali Sabarneh, 16, and Mahdi Abed al-Hamid Abu Maria, 15.
Israeli forces reportedly assaulted the detainees during their detention and transfer from inside the Israeli military tower set up at the entrance to the town.
Awad added that several Palestinian suffered tear-gas suffocation during clashes and were treated on the spot.
An Israeli soldier also assaulted a 17-year-old Palestinian by hitting him with a sound grenade on his head; the teen was treated by a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance.
