RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said that the Israeli military court of Ofer extended the detention of four detained Palestinian journalists on Thursday.

PPS said that a court hearing session was held for the four journalists, Alaa al-Rimawi, Muhammad Ulwan, Qutaiba Hamdan, and Husni Abed al-Jalil Injas, all working for the al-Quds TV, who were detained during raids by Israeli forces on July 30th from the central West Bank district of Ramallah.

PPS confirmed that al-Rimawi declared an open hunger strike as a form of protest against being detained for his journalistic work.

A fifth Palestinian journalist who was recently detained, was not scheduled a court hearing session yet.

These detentions brought the total number of Palestinian journalists held by Israel to 30, according to the Prisoners' Affairs Committee.
