BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least four Palestinians during pre dawn raids on Saturday in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to local sources.
In the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Israeli soldiers detained a Palestinian “youth” identified as Imad al-Qutob, after blowing off the front door to his house, locals said.
West of Nablus, in the city of Tulkarem, Israeli forces raided the Nur Shams refugee camp, causing lashes to erupt with soldiers and Palestinian youth in the camp. No detentions or injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, in East Jerusalem, Israeli forces raided the neighborhood of silwan and detained three Palestinians. They were identified as Sheikh Moussa Odeh, Khalid Abu Tayeh and Khalid al-Shweiki.
The town of Tuqu, east of Bethlehem City in the southern West Bank, was also raided by Israeli forces overnight. No detentions were reported.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an they did not have data on the number of Palestinians who were detained overnight between Friday and Saturday.
Israeli detention raids in the occupied Palestinian territory are a nightly occurrence.
According to UN numbers, between April 24 and May 7th, Israeli forces conducted 127 raids in the West Bank.
Palestinian prisoners rights group Addameer reported that as of April, there were 6,036 Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons.
