Israeli forces detain Palestinian lawyer from his home

06:00 Dec 4 2017 Kafr Aqab

Description
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities on Monday detained the Head of the Legal Department at the Palestinian Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Iyad Misk, from his home in the central occupied West Bank.

The committee released a statement saying that Misk was detained from his home Monday morning the central West Bank town of Kafr Aqab.

Misk was reportedly taken to the Petah Tikva interrogation center, the committee said, adding that the reason for his detention remained unknown.

According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 6,198 Palestinians were detained by Israel as of October. The group has estimated that some 40 percent of Palestinian men will be detained by Israel at some point in their lives.

Rights groups have long criticized Israel for arbitrary detentions of Palestinian activists in an attempt to stifle Palestinian political life.
