BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least six Palestinians in predawn military raids across the occupied West Bank on Sunday, while a raid in Doha south of Bethlehem city erupted into clashes and a house in the town caught fire.

A number of residents of Doha, including a 52-year-old woman identified as Amal Abdullah Saad, were reportedly detained after Israeli forces stormed the town.

Witnesses told Ma’an that clashes broke out between local youth, who threw stones, and Israeli soldiers. Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces used live fire to disperse protesters, and that several were injured.

Wafa said that a fire erupted at a home in the village after Israeli forces fired a sound bomb at it during the clashes. An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that Israeli border police raided Doha after they uncovered an improvised explosive device (IED), and detonated an explosive in the house to “neutralize” the bomb.

The spokesperson also said that a total of six Palestinians were detained across the occupied West Bank in detention raids, but did not provide details on the locations of the detentions, or confirm that any detentions were carried out in Doha.

Meanwhile, Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said in a written statement that Israeli border police and army forces raided the town of Bani Naim in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron overnight, when one Palestinian was detained.

“During the search of a complex in the village units seize a number of illegal weapons. One suspect was arrested and is being questioned and the weapons that were seized have been taken for examination,” he said.

Israeli forces detained 522 Palestinians, including 130 minors and 16 women, over the course of the month of August, according to a joint report released Palestinian institutions focusing on prisoners' rights.

The total number of Palestinians in Israeli prisons reached 6,300 prisoners, the report said, 64 of them women. Among them are 10 girls under the age of 18 and 300 underage boys, 450 administrative detainees imprisoned without charge or trial, and 12 members of the Palestinian Legislative Council, the Palestinian parliament.
