Description
HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained 58 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank overnight Wednesday, including several minors, and 26 in East Jerusalem in arrest raids across the occupied territories.

Locals told Ma'an that Israeli troops raided the city of Hebron and detained Muhammad Ahmad Abdul-Fattah abu Fanouna, Tayseer Taleb Abu Sneineh, Yahia Zughaier, and Fadi Muhammad Srour.

Ten Palestinians were detained from the towns of Tell and Sebastiya nearby Nablus, where Israeli forces raided the homes of Adnan abdul-Fattah Asida and Muhammad Bilal Saleh Ishtya.

Palestinian security sources in the city of Nablus told Ma’an that Israeli troops raided several neighborhoods including al-Jabal al-Shamali, al Maajin, al-Makhfiya, and al-Masakin al-Sahbiya.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed 58 Palestinians detained from areas throughout the West Bank, 16 of whom were detained for being suspected "Hamas operatives" and 26 for involvement in "illegal activities."

Israeli forces detained 26 Palestinians from across occupied East Jerusalem, while clashes broke out in al-Issawiya, leaving one Palestinian injured.

Forces raided the Palestinian neighborhoods of al-Sawana, Silwan, Jabal al-Mukabbir, and al-Issawiya, entering several homes and bringing detainees to Oz police station in Jabal al-Mukkabir.

While Israel has carried out a weekly average of 78 search and arrest raids of Palestinian towns in the occupied Palestinian territory, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, such raids have significantly increased this month.

The campaigns are a part of alleged efforts by Israeli authorities to "deescalate" current tensions in the area, measures that Palestinian ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, referred to last week as "repression and collective punishment."
