JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Thursday issued stop-work orders to 10 Palestinians in a village in the Jenin district, a local official said.

Village council member Tawfiq Qabha told Ma'an that Israeli soldiers entered the village of Barta'a al-Sharqiya, and handed out official paperwork that said to stop building houses and agricultural buildings, claiming that construction was illegal.

The names of the locals that reportedly received stop-work orders are: Ayman Abed al-Baqi Qabha, Abed al-Karim Abu Ta'ma, Basem Othman Qabha, Abdullah Yousef Qabha, Suhail Jawdat Qabha, Yousef Mute'e Qabha, Anas Jad Sabri, Yahya Rateb Qabha, Aws Mohammad Qabha, and Raed Saleh Qabha.

In addition, the soldiers issued a stop-work order to a charitable organization in the village, Qabha said.

Construction permit applications for Palestinians in the West Bank - rarely approved by Israeli authorities - are expensive and procedurally complicated.

Figures from the Israeli NGO Bimkom show that around 95 percent of applications for building permits are rejected in Area C.
