Description
QALQILIYA (Ma'an) -- An elderly Palestinian man knocked down by a settler car in Qalqiliya last week died on Tuesday from his injuries, relatives said.
Abdul-Hafith Muhammad Tayyim, 75, was hit by a settler vehicle on the first day of Eid al-Adha on Oct. 15.
He was taken to Rabin Medical Center in Israel for treatment but passed away on Tuesday, relatives told Ma'an. His body was transferred to Nazzal hospital in Qalqiliya.
Family member Nabil Tayyim said that the settler responsible for hitting Tayyim turned himself in at the nearby settlement of Qedumim.
More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
