BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained six Palestinians in raids across the West Bank overnight Wednesday, the Israeli army said.

Four people were detained in Sanniriya, near Qalqiliya, and one person was detained in Beit Ur al Tahta, west of Ramallah, an Israeli military spokesman said.

Forces detained one person in Hebron and seized a pistol and ammunition from his home, the army official told Ma'an.

The detainees were taken "for security questioning," he added.

Residents of Beit Ula, northwest of Hebron, said Israeli soldiers raided the village and briefly detained several village council members.

The Israeli force inspected the municipality building and caused damage to its contents, witnesses told Ma'an.
