The Wall & Colonization Resistance Commission revealed Sunday that Israeli occupation authorities have illegally confiscated 70.147 dunams of Palestinian lands near Nablus, in the occupied West Bank’s northern part, under a military order citing what the army dubbed as “security and military purposes.”
The confiscated lands belong to the villages of Qaryout, Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, and As-Sawiya in the Nablus governorate. The seizure is intended to establish a “buffer zone” surrounding the illegal Israeli colony of Eli, built on stolen Palestinian lands.
According to the Commission, the military order—numbered T/136/25—remains in effect until December 31, 2027.
However, the order was dated September 21, 2025, and published only after the one-week objection period had already expired, effectively denying affected landowners the opportunity to challenge the decision.
The total area appropriated includes 15.778 dunams of land previously classified as “state land,” while the remaining 54.368 dunams were seized outright under the new order.
The Commission further noted that since the beginning of 2025, Israeli authorities have issued 53 separate military orders for land seizure under various pretexts.
This marks a significant escalation in the use of military decrees to consolidate control over Palestinian territory.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits collective punishment and acts of terror against civilian populations.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
Articles 53 and 147, prohibit the destruction of civilian property and classify pillage as a war crime.
