On Wednesday, Israeli soldiers continued, for the third day, the massive invasions and destruction of homes, buildings, and infrastructure, and shot many Palestinians, including a child who suffered serious wounds, and an elderly man, in Tulkarem city and the Tulkarem refugee camp, in the occupied West Bank’s northwestern part.
Medical sources said an Israeli army sharpshooter shot a young man in the head in the Tulkarem refugee camp, leaving him bleeding on the ground as medics and ambulances were not allowed into the area.
In addition, the army shot an elderly man in Tulkarem refugee camp; the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that its crews dealt with a live bullet injury to a 70-year-old man in the leg, in the Al-Akasha neighborhood in the refugee camp.
Earlier Wednesday, two citizens were injured by Israeli sniper fire in the refugee camp, one of whom, a 54-year-old man, was hit by live bullet shrapnel in the head, and the other, a 52-year-old man, was shot in the abdomen. They were transported to the hospital by Red Crescent ambulances
During the ongoing aggression on the city and camp of Tulkarem for the past three days, 15 citizens have been injured by live bullets and shrapnel, mostly in the lower limbs.
The most serious injury was to a child who was shot in the chest in the western neighborhood of the city and was transferred to hospitals in Nablus for further treatment.
In addition, media sources reported that the occupation forces deployed more of their vehicles towards the city and its camp, which is under a tight siege, while their bulldozers continue to destroy the infrastructure in its neighborhoods, affecting water, electricity, sewage, internet networks, and public and private properties.
The Palestinians inside the refugee camp’s neighborhoods have been living for the third day without water, electricity, or communications, becoming cut off from the outside world, and are pleading for rescue and the provision of necessities, especially for the sick, children, and the elderly.
Furthermore, the army detonated a warehouse located on the ground floor of a residential building in the Al-Wakala neighborhood in the center of the Tulkarem camp, causing a fire that spread to a nearby cooking gas cylinder shop surrounded by several inhabited houses, resulting in explosions inside.
Eyewitnesses stated that the soldiers prevented civil defense vehicles and medics from entering the refugee camp to extinguish the fire and rescue children and women.
Tulkarem Governor Abdullah Kamil appealed to the international community for urgent action to stop the Israeli aggression against civilians in Tulkarem camp, which has affected everything in the city and the refugee camp.
On Wednesday morning, the soldiers forced the residents of the Shuhada neighborhood to leave their homes and move towards the city, joining a convoy of citizens who were forced to leave the camp since the first day.
The head of the Popular Committee for Services in Tulkarem Camp, Faisal Salama, explained to the Palestinian News & Info Agency (WAFA) that the refugee camp is witnessing a large displacement of its residents, with more than 1,000 Palestinians forcibly leaving the refugee camp.
All the refugee camp’s neighborhoods are witnessing a large deployment of occupation vehicles and soldiers, who are firing heavily, storming homes, causing destruction and chaos, and subjecting citizens to interrogation and investigation. They have also forced a large number of them to leave under the threat of weapons.
In the city of Tulkarem, the occupation forces continue to besiege “Dr. Thabet Thabet” Governmental Hospital and the Al-Israa Specialist Hospital, hindering the work of ambulances and medical crews.
Military vehicles are spread across various neighborhoods and streets of the city, particularly the western, southern, and eastern neighborhoods, obstructing the residents’ movements, stopping and searching them and their vehicles, and forcing passengers to return to their homes under gunpoint.
During the invasions of homes in the western neighborhood of Tulkarem city, the soldiers turned many homes into military centers after expelling their residents and subjecting them to interrogation, without any reported arrests.
The soldiers were also seen attempting to open old and abandoned homes in the western neighborhood, belonging to the Habayeb family, using heavy tools.
Meanwhile, Tulkarem Municipality crews are working on repairing the main water lines feeding parts of the city, located around Jamal Abdul-Nasser Square, which were destroyed by the occupation bulldozers two days ago, causing water cuts in large parts of the city.
In addition, the soldiers invaded Anabta town, east of Tulkarem, searched and ransacked homes and abducted a former political prisoner, Tamer Essam Nassar.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian young man in the Ertah suburb, south of Tulkarem, and injured three others, including a child, during their military incursion into Tulkarem city and the Tulkarem refugee camp, in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.
Media sources said that the soldiers shot the young man, Ayman Fadi Qasem Naji, 23, with live ammunition, and proceeded to abduct him before he succumbed to his injuries in Israeli custody.
They added that the soldiers also demolished the home of Tamer Fuqaha’’ in the Shweika suburb north of the city, who was killed by Israeli military fire in November last year, 2024.
ِِIn addition, a large number of Israeli military vehicles, accompanied by a heavy D10 bulldozer, stormed the suburb and headed towards the home of Fuqaha, deploying snipers in the surrounding houses before starting to demolish it.
In November 2024, the Fuqaha family received a demolition notice from the Israeli army for their single-story home, which had been evacuated earlier.
Fuqaha was killed on May 4, 2024, after Israeli forces besieged the Badran family’s home in the town of Deir al-Ghusun, north of the governorate. The army accuses him of carrying out a shooting operation in November 2023 at the entrance of the town of Beit Lid, east of Tulkarem, which resulted in the death of one soldier.
In related news, the soldiers assassinated ten Palestinian young men, Wednesday, after occupation warplanes bombed a site in center of the town of Tammun, south of Tubas in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank.
