On Thursday evening, the Israeli army assassinated two Palestinians after firing a missile at their vehicle from a drone, east of Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank’s northwestern part.
Medical sources said the two young men, Mohammad Ayad Mohammad Abdullah, 20, from Nur Shams refugee camp, and Awad Jamil Saqr Omar, 31, from Bal’a town, were killed in the drone strike on their car in the Jabal Al-Saleheen area between the Tulkarm ( طولكرم) suburb and Nur Shams refugee camp.
Shortly after assassinating the two young men, several Israeli military vehicles invaded the area and took the corpses of the slain Palestinians before withdrawing.
The soldiers did not allow Palestinian medics or locals to approach the targeted car, before taking the corpses away.
Media sources stated that the assassination coincided with the ongoing invasion of Nur Shams refugee camp, which lasted for several hours, and the tightening of the siege on it, amid the bulldozing and destruction of infrastructure along Nablus Street adjacent to the camp’s entrances.
The sources added that the invading forces fired flares into the sky over Nur Shams, specifically in Jabal Al-Nasr, and exchanged fire with resistance fighters while military drones flew overhead.
In addition, more than 10 military vehicles, accompanied by armored bulldozers, invaded Tulkarem city from its western area and headed towards Nur Shams camp, passing through Al-Alami Street, Sikka Street, and Ektaba roundabout.
At the same time, the army deployed more reinforcements from the eastern area of the governorate, passing through Anabta town and Bal’a roundabout, reaching Jabal Al-Saleheen in the refugee camp.
Israel has now killed 751 Palestinians, including 164 children, in the occupied West Bank, since October 7, 2023.
In an unofficial tally, the number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli military since the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, has risen to at least 42,909 killed, and 97,303 wounded, the majority of whom are women and children, and thousands of victims who are still under the rubble and on the roads where they cannot be reached.
Among the slain Palestinians are at least 16,891 children, 11,458 women, 174 journalists, 85 emergency responders, 986 medical staff, and 203 UNRWA staff.
The British Lancet Medical Journal and other experts estimate the death toll in Gaza is much higher – and could be above 200,000, when counting both direct and indirect deaths related to the Israeli war on Gaza.
