A Palestinian youth was killed by Israeli military fire in clashes that erupted east of Nablus in the West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said Friday.
Mohammad Daadas, 13, from the Askar refugee camp in the West Bank, was shot in the stomach and taken to a Nablus hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The IDF's Spokesperson's Unit said the army is looking into the incident.
Eyewitnesses said the boy was hit during clashes that erupted on a road surrounding the settlements of Elon Moreh in the West Bank, where Palestinians hold weekly demonstrations to protest the establishment of the illegal Israeli outpost of Evyatar that they say was built on their land.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, clashes also erupted near the Palestinian village of Beita, a village adjacent to Evyatar.
Five Palestinians were hit by sponge-tipped bullets in those clashes, four sustained bruises and 61 suffered tear gas inhalation.
Clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians are common across the West Bank on Fridays. Over the past six months, at least five protesters have been killed in the violence.
Last week, the Israeli authorities approved 3,000 new settler homes in the West Bank, while also agreeing on Thursday to build 1,300 housing units for Palestinians who live in areas of the West Bank that are under full Israeli control.
