Israeli soldiers, on Tuesday at dawn, detained eleven Palestinian civilians, including a minor, from the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) reported.
It said Israeli forces detained three Palestinians from the Ramallah and al-Biereh governorate, in the central West Bank, namely Majd Samir Al-Khawaja, 27, Ahmed Wael Afana, 25, and Ashraf Salim Al-Rum, 29.
The PPS added that occupation soldiers, stationed in the northern West Bank, detained three Palestinians from Jenin, identified as Tariq Ziyad Al-Jamal, Muhammad Amer Jaradat, and Ali Muhannad Marzouq. Three more civilians from Nablus were detained by the Israeli army, identified as Naseem Musa Al-Jada, Majdi Jalal Nassar, and Maan Faisal Awad.
Soldiers took a child, Anas Ahmed Shaheen, 16, into custody, from the Al-Arroub Refugee Camp, south of Bethlehem, in the southern West Bank, as well as Hussein Issa Al-Awawda, from Doura city, southwest of Hebron.
According to Addameer, Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, 170 children are held in Israeli prisons, and “the most common charge levied against children is throwing stones, a crime that is punishable under military law by up to 20 years in prison.”
“approximately 700 Palestinian children under the age of 18 from the occupied West Bank are prosecuted every year through Israeli military courts after being arrested, interrogated and detained by the Israeli army.”
