JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian after physically assaulting him near the Moroccan Gate, in the Old City of Jerusalem, on Sunday noon.

Eyewitnesses told Ma'an that Israeli forces held the Palestinian, who was identified as Nidal Asfour, and checked his identity card.

Sources mentioned that Asfour, who was defenseless, was held by Israeli forces and was repeatedly cursed and physically beaten.

Following the assault, Asfour was detained.

He was taken to an unknown location.
