BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Egyptian authorities allowed the entry of 114 truckloads of various goods into the besieged Gaza Strip through Egypt's Rafah crossing between Sunday and Monday.
Egypt allowed the entry of 114 truckloads of goods, including five liquid natural gas trucks weighing 107 tons, 14 fuel trucks weighing 16, 250 liters, trucks of diesel weighing 608, 000 liters, 27 truckloads of cement, 25 truckloads of gravel and 27 truckloads of cement weighing 1,045 tons.
The shipment also included seven truckloads of 45 tons of flour, two truckloads of plastic chairs, 15 tons of detergent, 20 tons of perfume and five trucks carrying livestock for the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday coming next week.
Some 606 Palestinians crossed the Rafah crossing from the Gaza Strip into Egypt, on Sunday, while 325 crossed from Egypt into Gaza.
There are three crossings into the Gaza Strip and one of them is the Gaza-Egypt crossing known as the Rafah crossing in southern Gaza, which is specifically used for pedestrians. However, it is often closed and lacks infrastructure for it to be a main commercial crossing.
To allow movement and lessen the suffering of the people of Gaza, Egypt recently opens the crossing for five days a week upon order by its President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi.
