Description
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces set up two new iron gates to block the entrances to the Palestinian Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem in the central occupied West Bank, on Sunday morning.

According to local sources, Israeli forces set up the two iron gates on two separate roads blocking all access points to the village. The only way to enter the village is now through the mountains.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee said the set up of these iron gates is part of Israel’s “occupation policy” to seal off Khan al-Ahmar village.

The lawyers of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee have urged the Israeli Supreme Courtto postpone the decision on the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar to August 15th.

Earlier this month, Israeli forces and military vehicles had surrounded the Khan al-Ahmar, in attempt to demolish the village and displace the residents of the Bedouin village, inhabited by 181 people, half of whom are children.

As a form of protest against the planned demolition, dozens of solidarity activists and demonstrators have been stationed in the village for weeks. Many of them were injured by the Israeli forces and several detained.

Israeli forces have been preparing for the displacement of more than 35 Palestinian families, by setting up “caravan” mobile homes for the transportation of Khan al-Ahmar residents.

Palestinian activists and officials said that he preparation for the demolition of the village is part of an Israeli plan to expand the nearby Kfar Adummim illegal settlement.

Although international humanitarian law prohibits the demolition of the village and illegal confiscation of private property, Israeli forces continue their planned expansion by forcing evictions and violating basic human rights of the people.
