JERUSALEM (Ma'an) --
JULY 8, 2018 11:15 A.M. (UPDATED: JULY 9, 2018 1:05 P.M.)
sraeli forces began to set up “caravan” mobile homes for the transportation of Khan al-Ahmar residents, in the Palestinian village of al-Eizariya, in the central occupied West Bank district of Jerusalem, on Sunday.
Since the early hours of Sunday morning, Israeli forces arrived with bulldozers to al-Eizariya village to raze the land and set up caravans.
The preparation is meant for the transportation of Khan al-Ahmar residents after Israeli forces carry out the planned demolishment of the village which would displace more than 35 Palestinian families, as part of an Israeli plan to expand the nearby Kfar Adummim illegal settlement.
Israeli forces have been attempting to displace the residents of the Bedouin village, inhabited by 181 people, half of whom are children.
Two days ago, the Israeli Supreme Court issued a temporary freeze on the planned demolition of the Palestinian Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, until a decision was reached on the petition filed by the residents of the Bedouin community.
Walid Assaf, head of the National Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlements, expressed hope that the final decision to completely freeze the demolition of the Bedouin village will be issued on July 11th of this year.
Israel has been constantly trying to uproot Palestinian Bedouins from the east of Jerusalem area to allow settlement expansion in the area, which would later turn the entire eastern part of the West Bank into a settlement zone.
