People of the unrecognized Palestinian village of Umm al-Hiran, in the Negev desert area, on Sunday evening, received administrative demolition orders to a number of houses on the pretext that they are unlicensed buildings.

Local sources reported that vehicles of the Israeli occupation police broke into the village, handed its residents demolition orders, and threatened to force them out of the village unless they left it before the beginning of next April.

In turn, Head of the Popular Committee in Umm al-Hiran, Raed Abu al-Qiyan, stated that the decision of issuing demolition orders is a sequel to what has already been occurring in the region, as if it became a military governorate of the Negev.

Abu al-Qiyan said, according to Al Ray, “This decision is against a number of the village’s houses,” adding, “We will not leave our village according to this alleged plan, and, in this sense, we call on the responsible authorities to sit with us and adopt one of the alternatives offered by the village’s residents; otherwise, we will not subject to any dictates or orders.”
