NABLUS (Ma'an) -- A young Palestinian man died on Tuesday night after succumbing to wounds he sustained earlier in the afternoon during clashes with Israeli forces in the al-Jabal a-Shamali area of Nablus City in the northern occupied West Bank.

Head of the Al-Najah Governmental Hospital in Nablus told Ma’an that Khaled Walid Tayeh, 22, from Iraq al-Tayeh village near Nablus, died of a critical gunshot wound to the chest.

Israeli forces had raided the al-Jabal al-Shamali as part of their manhunt for the Palestinian teen suspected of stabbing and killing an Israeli settler on Monday.

Locals told Ma’an that forces surrounded a building in search of the suspect, 19-year-old Abd al-Karim Adel Assi, a Palestinian citizen of Israel. Israeli forces surrounded two houses in the area, one of the suspect’s family and another home allegedly belonging to Assi’s friends.

During the raid, clashes erupted between Palestinian youth in the area and Israeli forces, who heavily fired live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas at youth.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that 110 injuries were reported during the raid: 32 of them with live bullets, 26 with rubber-coated steel bullets, 51 with severe tear gas inhalation, and one youth who was run over by an Israeli military jeep.

Medical sources told Ma’an that one youth identified as Anwar Abu Aisha was critically injured with a live bullet in the thigh.

Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources told Ma’an that Israeli forces detained six Palestinian “youths,” who were identified as Hani Ashraf Khalaf, Nayif al-Tubasi, Tamer Qandil, Iyad Abu Salha, Musaab al-Kawni and another one identified only as being from the al-Bastami family.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army said in a statement that Assi, the alleged Ariel attack suspect, was not detained during the raid.

The factional coordination committee in the Nablus district declared Wednesday a day of mourning and called on Palestinians to take part in Tayeh’s funeral in Iraq al-Tayeh.

The committee also declared this coming Friday a “Day of Rage” against the Israeli occupation.

Palestinians: One Killed, Dozens Wounded in Clashes With Israeli Army in Nablus

Israeli security forces are searching for the assailant who stabbed and killed a man outside a West Bank settlement on Monday

One Palestinian was killed and fifty others were wounded during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank city of Nablus on Tuesday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

The military said clashes broke out while it was searching for an assailant who killed an Israeli man in a stabbing attack. Eye witnesses told Haaretz that soldiers surrounded a house belonging to the father of Abed al-Hakim Asi, who stabbed and killed Itamar Ben Gal, 29, on Monday.

According to the Palestinian ministry, dozens of Palestinians were wounded by live rounds, with six of them suffering serious wounds. The military said it was looking into Palestinian reports about casualties.

The military said that clashes broke out between the soldiers and some 500 Palestinians during the raid, adding that rocks, firebombs and explosive devices were hurled at the forces, and that gun fire was also used against the soldiers. According to eye witnesses, the clashes erupted as Israeli forces were pulling out from Nablus.

The eye witnesses said that gunfire opened from the Balata Refugee Camp toward the soldiers, and that a shoot-out erupted with the soldiers after a military vehicle broke down.

The military said it has arrested seven suspects but was unable to locate Asi. Asi, an Israeli Arab, is the son of an Israeli mother who lived in Haifa and a Palestinian father from Nablus.

Hundreds of Israelis attended Ben Gal's funeral in the settlement of Har Bracha in the northern West Bank on Tuesday. Ben Gal, a father of four children aged one to seven, was a teacher at a yeshiva high school in Givat Shmuel and the yeshiva in Har Bracha.
