BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian lawmaker from his home during a predawn raid on Monday in the central occupied West Bank district of Salfit, according to the official Palestinian Authority (PA)-owned Wafa news agency.

Wafa reported that Israeli forces raided the city of Salfit and detained Omar Abdul-Razeq, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PL) from the Hamas-affiliated Reform and Change list.

Abdul Razeq, who served as finance minister in 2006, was released from Israeli prison two months ago.

According to Palestinian prisoners rights group Addameer, as of December 2017, there were 10 members of the PLC being held in Israeli prison.

Wafa added that with the detention of Abdul Razeq, that number now stands at 11, noting that most Palestinian lawmakers are being held in administrative detention -- Israel’s widely condemned policy of internment without charge or trial.
