BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 11 Palestinians during predawn military raids Sunday across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, according to a statement from the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
PPS said Israeli soldiers detained four people from Jerusalem, two from the northern occupied West Bank district of Qalqilya, two from the southern Hebron district, one from the Bethlehem area in the south, and two from the central Ramallah district.
An Israeli army spokesperson said only eight Palestinians were detained in raids, and did not offer details on the locations where the detentions were carried out.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a biweekly average of 85 search and detention raids carried out thus far in 2017, according to UN documentation.
Israeli forces detained 522 Palestinians, including 130 minors and 16 women, over the course of the month of August, according to a joint report released Palestinian institutions on Sunday.
The total number of Palestinians in Israeli prisons reached 6,300 prisoners, the report said, 64 of them women. Among them are 10 girls under the age of 18 and 300 underage boys, 450 administrative detainees imprisoned without charge or trial, and 12 members of the Palestinian Legislative Council, the Palestinian parliament.

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Sunday at dawn, several areas in the occupied West Bank, broke into and searched many homes, and abducted at least eight Palestinians.
Mohammad Awad, the media spokesperson of the Popular Committee in Beit Ummar town, north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, said the soldiers invaded and ransacked many homes, interrogated several Palestinians, before abducting two, and summoned another Palestinian for interrogation.
He stated that the soldiers targeted ‘Aseeda and Khallet al-‘Ein areas, in Beit Ummar, before abducting Ahmad Samir Abu Ayyash, 18, and Hamdi Abu Mariya, 15.
Awad also said that the soldiers summoned Ibrahim Mahmoud Sabarna, 47, for interrogation in Etzion military base and security center, north of Hebron.
In Bethlehem, the soldiers abducted Mahmoud Essam Jaber, 25, after hurling many gas bombs and concussion grenades at him home.
In the Saff Street in Bethlehem, the soldiers invaded the family home of Nidal Saqqouq, who was killed by Israeli army fire in 2009, and searched the property.
Also in Bethlehem, the soldiers abducted Abdul-Fattah Harb al-Miskawi, after invading his home and searching it.
Another Palestinian, identified as Hasan Ibrahim Sayyed, 20, was kidnapped in the central West Bank city of Ramallah, after the soldiers illegally confiscated his motorcycle.
In occupied Jerusalem, the soldiers invaded homes and abducted a woman, identified as Hanadi al-Halawany, in addition to abducting Mohammad al-Hindi and Ahmad Ali, from their homes in Shu’fat, north of the city.
