BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces raided the town of Sair in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron before dawn on Tuesday and detained a Palestinian, according to an Israeli police spokeswoman.
Luba al-Samri said in a written statement that Israeli police and army forces stormed a house of a Palestinian "suspect" and seized a rifle and a cartridge clip, and detained the man for interrogation.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma'an it was the only detention carried out in the occupied West Bank overnight.
Israeli raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps are a daily occurrence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with a biweekly average of 85 search and detention raids carried thus far in 2017, according to UN documentation.
According to Palestinian prisoner’s rights group Addameer, there are some 6,128 Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons, including at least 320 minors and 62 women and girls.
