RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot and injured three young Palestinian men, one of them critically, and detained two others during clashes in the village of Kafr Malik in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah on Sunday, local sources told Ma’an.
Medical sources told Ma'an that one of the injured suffered from a critical chest wound as he was shot at close range. A spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent could not immediately be reached for further comment.
Locals told Ma'an that Israeli troops also detained two Palestinian youths.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that they were looking into the reports.
The circumstances surrounding the clashes remained unclear as of Sunday evening. However, at least three other Palestinians were injured in by Israeli forces earlier on Sunday, during a protest in the Ramallah district in support of imprisoned Palestinian hunger strikers.
Rights groups have routinely condemned Israeli authorities for their use of excessive force against Palestinians with "non-lethal" weapons such as rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas that often result in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries.
