NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Tuesday afternoon closed the Huwwara checkpoint south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank until further notice, Palestinian security sources told Ma'an.

The sources said Israeli forces closed the checkpoint, which is located on the main road leading to Nablus, for “security reasons.”

Palestinian commuters, the sources said, were forced to take an alternative route to and from Nablus through the nearby Awarta checkpoint.

An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports.
