BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces conducted multiple raids late Saturday and Sunday at dawn across the occupied West Bank, detaining at least 17 Palestinians, including a 12-year-old boy.
The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said in a statement that 10 Palestinians were detained from occupied East Jerusalem, and identified them as Muhammad Ashur Ubeid, Ali Ubeid, Muhammad Yusif Atiyah, Ali Uweisat, Faris Uweisat, Ahmad Uweisat, Adnan Elian, Mujahid Abdo, Obeida Abu Duhaym, and Mahmoud Uweisat.
In the northern district of Jenin, Israeli forces detained Muhammad Fadi al-Sadi, 16, Ward Abd al-Hadi, and Diya Mazin Hattub.
Israeli troops raided the Ayda refugee camp in the southern district of Bethlehem, where they detained Yazan al-Kurdi, 12.
Muath Abd al-Salam al-Aydi, 28, was detained from the al-Faraa refugee camp in the northern Tubas district, when Israeli forces raided the camp at dawn, sparking clashes with local youths, injuring one resident with live fire.
Muhammad Yunis Qaysiyah, 25, was detained from the village of al-Dhahiriya, while Hassan Adam Khalil, 20, was detained from Beit Ummar village, both in southern Hebron district.
The Israeli army released a statement confirming a total of four detentions in overnight raids in the occupied West Bank, mentioning one in Beit Ummar, one in al-Dhahiriya, one in Ayda refugee camp, and one in al-Faraa refugee camp.
Israeli forces have carried out on average 78 detention raids across the West Bank each week in 2016, according to UN documentation, although the army has carried out some 100 weekly raids in the past month.
According to Palestinian prisoners rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of July, more than 6,000 of whom were from the West Bank.

The Jerusalem office of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) has reported that Israeli soldiers have kidnapped twelve Palestinians during extensive military invasions and searches of homes, in different parts of the occupied district.
The PPS stated that the soldiers invaded, on Sunday at dawn, Hizma town, northeast of Jerusalem, and kidnapped two young Palestinian men, identified as Fayez Mohammad Sbeih and Luay Hani Sbeih.
The soldiers also invaded the towns of al-‘Eesawiyya and Jabal al-Mokabber, and clashed with dozens of local youths who hurled stones and empty bottles at the military vehicles.
Undercover soldiers also infiltrated into the al-‘Eesawiyya and kidnapped three young men, identified as Mohammad Ashour Obeid, Ali Obeid and Mohammad Yousef Ateyya.
Regular army units invaded the town and fired many gas bombs, concussion grenades, and rubber-coated steel bullets.
On Saturday evening, the army summoned six Palestinians for interrogation at the al-Maskobiyya interrogation center, west of Jerusalem, and abducted them, just as they arrived there.
They have been identified as Ali Oweisat, Fares Oweisat, Mahmoud Oweisat, Adnan Oleyyan, Mojahed Abda, and Obeida Abu Edheim.
On Sunday at dawn, the soldiers invaded several homes in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, and kidnapped two Palestinians, including a former political prisoner.
On Friday evening, the soldiers kidnapped a former political prisoner, identified as Sufian Fakhri Abda, and moved him to an interrogation facility. Abda was imprisoned by Israel for fourteen years, and was released just a few days prior to his abduction.
