JERUSALEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least 47 Palestinians in overnight raids in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank, Palestinian and Israeli sources told Ma’an.
Israeli police carried out a major detention campaign in the al-Tur and al-Suwwana neighborhoods of East Jerusalem, detaining at least 29 Palestinian men and teenagers, locals told Ma’an.
Locals said 24 were detained from al-Tur, who were identified as: Ali Mustafa Abu al-Hawa, Kifah Yaser Abu al-Hawa, Muhammad Akram Abu al-Hawa, Muhammad Khader Abu al-Hawa, Muhammad Ibrahim Abu al-Hawa, Muhammad Ihab Abu al-Hawa, Dawood Mahmoud Abu al-Hawa, Abdullah Abu al-Hawa, Wissam Abu al-Hawa, Muntasir Abu al-Hawa, Majdi al-Sayyad, Mahdi Ahmad al-Sayyad, Muath al-Sayyad, Abdullah Bassam Abu Ghannam, Muhammad Abu Ghannam, Osama Abu Ghannam, Raafat Abu Jumaa, Sharif Khalid Abu Jumaa,Ihab al-Hidra, Naim al-Hidra, Muhammad Abu Sbeitan, Jawad Abu Sbeitan, Muhammad Jayyusi, and Shadi Khweis.
Locals in al-Suwwana said five Palestinians were detained in the neighborhood identified as Mousa al-Qadamani, Amir al-Balbisi, Muhammad Sbeitani, Muhammad Abu Lafi, and Nidal al-Saou.
The sources said groups of infantry troops along with intelligence officers stormed several homes carrying maps and arrest warrants.
Israeli police spokeswoman Luba al-Samri said in a statement that Israeli police and border guard officers detained 33 Palestinians across East Jerusalem on Tuesday night.
She said that the detained were suspected of theft, illegal weapon and drug possession, and participating in “local terror” by throwing stones at Israeli forces .
Al-Samri added that eight other Palestinians received summons during the raids.
Meanwhile, at least 14 Palestinians were detained across the occupied West Bank.
Palestinian security sources said Israeli forces detained five people in the southern city of Hebron after ransacking several homes. The detainees were identified as Wael Muhammad al-Beitar, Abd al-Muizz Abu Khalaf, Ahmad al-Sharif, Bahaa Zahda, and Rami Ziada.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that eight Palestinians had been detained in the Hebron area.
In the northern West Bank, Israeli forces detained three young men in Tubas, identified by locals as Mustafa Abu Reihan, Hamza Omar Daraghma and his brother Muamin.
Locals also reported the detention of two young men from the Dweikat family in Qalqiliya in the northwestern West Bank.They added that clashes broke out between Israeli troops and local youth during the raid, resulting in two young men reportedly being injured by rubber-coated bullets.
The Israeli army spokesperson listed four detentions in the Nablus area.
According to Palestinian prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of April. The organization estimates that 40 percent of Palestinian men have been detained by Israel at least once in their lives.

Israeli soldier invaded, on Wednesday at dawn the Suwwana neighborhood, and the at-Tour town, in occupied East Jerusalem, stormed and ransacked dozens of homes and kidnapped 45 Palestinians, including several children, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic) said.
Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud said the soldiers moved most of the kidnapped Palestinians to the Police station in Salaheddin Street, in Jerusalem.
Mahmoud added that the police decided to release most of the kidnapped after interrogation, while at least five of them will be sent to the District Court, for charges related to what the army called “throwing stones at army and police vehicles.”
The lawyer added that the police intends to transfer Mohammad Abu Ghannam, Abdullah Abu Ghannam, Kifah Abu al-Hawa, Amir Rabah al-Hadra and Daoud Mousa Abu al-Hawa, to the District Court in the few coming hours.
