Description
JERUSALEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli police late Friday detained four Palestinian teens after they allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at an illegal Israeli settlement in occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli police spokesperson Luba al-Samri said the teens hurled firebombs at Beit Orot settlement, located northeast of the Old City near Mount of Olives and the Palestinian al-Suwwana neighborhood.
Lawyer for Silwan-based watchdog the Wadi Hilweh Information Center told Ma’an the four were taken to the Russian Compound police station for questioning.

The lawyer identified the detainees as Abdullah Samir Fahd Abu Sbeitan, 17, Basim Mahir Sbeitani, 17, Siraj Mahmoud Udah Abu Sbeitan, 16 and Mahmoud Ahmad Abu al-Hawa, 17.

The lawyer visited the teens in detention, where they told him a group of undercover Israeli officers -- known as “Mustaribeen” -- detained them near al-Tur junction.

One of the four told the lawyer he was on his way to a pharmacy to buy medicine, another said he was working in the area, while the other two said they were walking home when they were detained.

The lawyer said signs of torture were clear on the bodies of Siraj and Basim.

The Beit Orot settlement reportedly targeted by Molotov cocktails Friday was established in 1990, financed by an American Jewish citizen of Israel.

The area was originally slated to be site of a Palestinian school, and the settlement’s construction has long been controversial and in violation of international law.

At least 550 Jerusalemite Palestinians are currently held in Israeli jails, according to prisoners’ rights group Addameer.

The group says Israel tries East Jerusalem Palestinians in civilian courts despite the fact that the area is under military occupation, which would stipulate its residents be tried in military courts.

Undercover Israeli forces infiltrated, on Friday evening, into the Suwwana neighborhood, in occupied Jerusalem, and assaulted a group of children, after surrounding them, and kidnapped four. The soldiers also kidnaped a child in al-‘Eesawiyya.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Silwan (Silwanic), in occupied Jerusalem, said the undercover forces attacked the children close to Beit Orit illegal colony, built on Palestinian lands in Suwwana neighborhood, and kidnapped four of them.

The Israeli police said the children were taken prisoner reportedly for “hurling Molotov cocktails on the settlement.”

Many residents, including children, were injured in the Israeli military attack, and infiltration by the undercover soldiers.

Silwanic lawyer said the kidnapped children have been identified as Abdullah Samer Abu Esbeitan, 17, Bassem Maher Sbeitani, 17, Siraj Mahmoud Abu Esbeitan, 16, and Mahmoud Ahmad Abu al-Hawa, 17.

He added that they were taken prisoner at the at-Tour village junction; one of them was heading to a local pharmacy, and the others were walking back home.

Signs of physicals violence and beatings were clearly apparent on the bodies of Bassem and Siraj when the lawyer was eventually allowed to meet them.

On Friday evening, the police ordered Sondos Samir Mohammad Obeid, 15, under further interrogation; she was taken prisoner during the day after the police claimed that "she carried a knife with the intention to stab soldiers."

The child was kidnapped near the main road leading to the al-‘Eesawiyya town, in occupied Jerusalem.
