HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained at least one Palestinian in the occupied West Bank overnight Saturday, Palestinian and Israeli sources said.
Local sources told Ma’an that Israeli troops detained Muhammad Imter al-Nammoura in the village of Dura west of Hebron, after raiding his house and storming the house of Mutasem Ziyad al-Rjoub.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an one Palestinian had been detained west of Bethlehem for “illegal activities.”
Activist Muhammad Ayyad Awad said Israeli forces also carried out a raid in the town of Beit Ummar northwest of Hebron, issuing summons to several Palestinians to meet with Israeli intelligence.
Some of the people summoned were identified as Muhammad Ikhlayel, 35, who spent 12 years in Israeli prisons, and Laith al-Alami, 21, who has spent two years in Israeli custody.
Israeli troops also raided the al-Fayha school for girls near al-Ibrahimi mosque in the Old City of Hebron and seized camera footage from the school.
According to prisoners’ rights group Addameer, 7,000 Palestinians were imprisoned by Israel as of February.
