RAMALLAH (Ma’an ) -- Israeli forces on Sunday detained 13 Palestinians from across the occupied West Bank during predawn search and arrest raids, locals said.
In the town of Beit Ummar north of Hebron, local activist Muhammad Ayyad Awad told Ma’an that Israeli forces stormed his home and detained his 18-year-old son, Ahmad.
Muntasir Abdul-Hamid Awad, 23, was also detained during the raid, Awad said, adding that the man had previously served three years in Israeli custody.
Awad told Ma’an that the home of Nasser Ayesh Ikhlayel was searched by forces intending to detain the man’s two sons who were both at work at the time.
Clashes reportedly broke out during the raid, with Palestinian youths throwing stones and Molotov at Israeli forces who responded with tear gas.
Saeb Saber Taha, 22, was detained from the Abu Sneinah neighbourhood in Hebron, Awad added.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society identified in a statement six other Palestinians detained from the Hebron area.
The detainees were identified as Saber abu Sneinah, 25, Aqel Ismail Masalmah, Mutasem Farouq Masalma, Muhammad Sameer Atiya Abedo, 21, and Isaac Mahmoud al-Junaidi, 27.
Two brothers were also detained from the al-Issawiya neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, identified as Mahmoud and Murad Muhammad Muheisen.
In the Balata refugee camp in Nablus Israeli forces detained Raed abu Shallal, 33. Separately, Raed Abu Hadeed was detained from the Duheisha refugee camp south of Bethlehem and Yousef Ali al-Sheikh, 21 from Bethlehem.
An Israeli army spokesperson was able to confirm nine arrests in the occupied West Bank Sunday, five of whom were detained from the Hebron area for “suspected illegal activity.”
