Description
NABLUS (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian security officer on Tuesday at a military checkpoint in the northern occupied West Bank.
Palestinian security sources told Ma’an that Israeli soldiers stopped Ibrahim al-Khatatba’s private car at a checkpoint near the village of Beit Furik east of Nablus for inspection before they cuffed him and took him to the Huwwara military base.
Al-Khatatba is a lieutenant colonel within the Palestinian Authority’s general intelligence service.
The sources said Palestinian liaison officers contacted their Israeli counterparts to prevent the detention of al-Khatatba, but the Israelis insisted on taking him into custody.
