Palestinian shot, killed by Israeli forces in southern Gaza

15:00 Nov 6 2015 east of Khan Younis

Description
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot and killed a 23-year-old Palestinian man in the Gaza Strip on Friday, Palestinian officials said, the second Palestinian to be killed after a 72-year-old woman was shot dead in the occupied West Bank earlier in the day.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza identified the man as Salameh Moussa Abu Jame.

He was shot east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip during clashes in the area.

In northern Gaza, a Palestinian teenager was injured during clashes near the Erez crossing.

A Ma'an reporter said that dozens of Palestinian youths protested at the border, with Israeli forces firing tear-gas canisters at demonstrators.

An Israeli army spokesperson said "tens of Palestinians gathered and approached the security buffer zone and attempted to damage the security fence."

Israeli forces called for the perpetrators to stop, before firing at the "main instigator," the spokesperson added, confirming an injury.
Seperately, hundreds of Palestinians took part in a march in Gaza City Friday, where Hamas leader Ismail Radwan called on the PLO to support resistance, and for Palestinians in the West Bank to form coordination committees to lead the intifada.

Earlier in the day,Tharwat al-Sharawi, 72, was shot dead in Halhul in the West Bank after Israeli forces claimed she attempted a "vehicle attack" on forces in the area.

Two Palestinian youths who were standing at a gas station nearby were injured as Israeli gunfire shattered the car's windows.

Abu Jame was the 75th Palestinian to be killed since the beginning of last month, the majority of whom were shot dead by Israeli forces during alleged, attempted, and actual attacks on Israeli military and civilians.

The number includes 18 Palestinians who have been killed in the Gaza Strip. The majority were killed during demonstrations, and two -- a 2-year-old and her pregnant mother -- were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their home.

Israeli forces shot and wounded at least 2,617 Palestinians with live and rubber-coated steel bullets through October, the Palestinian Red Cross said earlier this week, as clashes have carried on into the new month.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have launched demonstrations in solidarity with Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem as well as in support of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Use of force by the Israeli military during the demonstrations led the UN High Commissioner of Human Rights to condemn last month Israel’s “excessive use of force, and violations of the right to life and security of the person."
