RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Israeli courts extended on Sunday the detention of 49 Palestinian detainees under the justification of ongoing investigations, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Society.
All the detainees are being held until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
The prisoners are being held at Petah Tikva, al-Jalama, Ofer, and Ashkelon prisons.
The statement named all the detainees whose remand was extended including a woman from Bethlehem, Maysoun Mousa.
According to Israeli human rights group B'Tselem there are close to 1,500 detainees currently awaiting legal proceedings in Israeli jails.
That number does not include the 400 Palestinians being held without trail under administrative detention.
In total around 6,000 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons.
