BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained six Palestinians from across the occupied West Bank overnight Saturday, the Israeli army said.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said that one Palestinian was arrested from Hawara south of Nablus and another from Awarta west of Nablus.
Another Palestinian was apprehended in Shuqba west of Ramallah, two in Beit Ummar north of Hebron, and another in Hebron city.
The spokeswoman said that they had been arrested for "illegal activities," without giving further details.
Israeli forces routinely detain Palestinians throughout the West Bank and East Jerusalem, often on the pretext of perceived security threats, and Addameer estimates that 40 percent of the Palestinian male population has been arrested at some point.
Nearly 6,000 Palestinian prisoners are currently being held in Israeli jails.
