BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces arrested nine Palestinians amid clashes that left at least two injured in the West Bank overnight, sources said Wednesday.

In Tubas, a Palestinian official said Israeli forces detained former prisoner Hazem Mustafa Maslamani, 24, after raiding his house and unleashing police dogs on him.

Bassam Maslamani, a member of the central committee of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, told Ma'an Israeli forces also searched the house and confiscated computers and cell phones belonging to the man.

An Israeli army spokeswoman told Ma'an that nine Palestinians were arrested in the West Bank overnight -- two near Bethlehem, five near Hebron, and two near Nablus.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out in various areas of the West Bank during Israeli raids.

In the Hebron district, a 17-year-old Palestinian was hit with a rubber-coated bullet during clashes in the town of Beit Ummar, a local spokesman said.

Muhammad Ayyad Awad, spokesman of the local popular committee, said clashes broke out in the al-Thahr area of the town near the illegal Israeli settlement of Kirmi Tsur.

In addition to the teen being injured, several Palestinians suffered excessive tear gas inhalation as soldiers fired canisters at homes and near the al-Sumoud mosque where the clashes took place.

Soldiers attempted to capture the injured 17-year-old, but he managed to escape, Awad said.

He was taken to the town's medical center where his injuries were described as light to moderate.

Meanwhile, another Palestinian teen was injured during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the village of Burin in southern Nablus, an official said.

Ghassan Doughlas, a Palestinian Authority official who monitors settler activity in the northern West Bank, told Ma'an 16-year-old Amid Nasr al-Zein was injured by a live bullet to the thigh.

Several other Palestinians suffered from tear gas inhalation, Doughlas said.

In the village of Iraq Burin near Nablus, Israeli forces blocked the main road and prevented dozens of vehicles from entering or exiting the town, locals said.

Soldiers held the ID cards of dozens of villagers for more than two hours, the sources said.

The Israeli army has occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 1967. Overnight detention raids, flying checkpoints, and military patrols are routine occurrences in the internationally recognized Palestinian territory.
