NABLUS, December 25, 2014 (WAFA) – At least 12 Palestinians were Thursday arrested by the Israeli forces during predawn raids in the West Bank districts of Nablus and Hebron and in occupied East Jerusalem, according to local and security sources.

The Israeli army forces broke into the city of Nablus, in the northern West Bank, and arrested six local residents, who were identified as: Murad Makhlouf, 25, Mohammad Meshal, 25, Muammar Jamous, Mohammad Kaddumi, Abdullah Sheberi, and Amjad Abu Rabee.

Israeli soldiers also stormed the nearby village of Kafr Qalil, where they arrested Alaa Mansour, who was said to be a warrant officer in the Palestinian police.

The Israeli raids also included breaking into the city of Hebron and carrying out a search campaign to arrest Salaheddine Qawasmi, 22.

Soldiers, stationed at the entrance of the nearby town of Beit Ummar assaulted a local resident with a stun baton before arresting him. He was identified as Mohammad Maharmeh, 23.

Meanwhile, Israeli police broke into the neighborhoods of Issawiya and Sur Baher in Jerusalem and arrested three Palestinians. Two of them were identified as Hassan Jamjoum and Ali Darwish.

Army forces stormed the village of Araqa, to the west of Jenin, where they raided a house and investigated its residents. No arrests were reported in the village.

Most of the daily arrests are carried out during night time and at predawn, spreading panic among civilians, especially children. Israeli military, nevertheless, claims that night raids, unlike day raids, are to minimize contact with angry local residents and the outbreak of clashes.

NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained six Palestinians in overnight raids in the occupied West Bank, security officials said Thursday.

In Nablus, four men were detained at dawn from the Old City, Kafr Qallil, Ein Beit al-Mai refugee camp, and Rafidia.

They were identified as Alaa Mansour, a PA police officer, Muhammad Qaddumi, Murad Makhloog, 25, and Muhammad Mashaal, 25.

Clashes broke out in the city following the arrests, with Israeli forces firing tear gas canisters and stun grenades at youths.

Clashes broke between young Palestinian men and the invading Israeli troops who fired dozens of tear gas canisters and stun grenades at the protestors.

In Hebron, Israeli forces detained Mustafa Maharma, 23, and Muhammad Jamil Issa Arara, 36.

Maharma was traveling in a car near Surif village when Israeli forces stopped the vehicle and used a taser gun before detaining him.

Awad was detained at a military checkpoint near Beit Ummar. He had previously spent seven years in an Israeli jail.
