BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- An Israeli official on Tuesday told Ma'an that an autopsy report on the death of a Palestinian who was found hanged to death in Jerusalem proves it was a suicide.
Yoav Mordechai, Israel's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, said reports that Yousef al-Ramouni was murdered were untrue.
The autopsy was attended by Palestinian pathologist Sabir al-Aloul, Mordechai said.
He added that Israeli authorities would release an official medical report proving that the death was a suicide.
Bus driver Yousuf Hasan al-Ramouni, 32, was found hanged inside his bus at the Har Hotzvim terminal near Jerusalem Monday, and police said in a statement that there was "no suspicion of criminal activity" and his death appeared to be a suicide.
But a medical expert, speaking to Ma'an on the condition of anonymity late Monday, said that the autopsy indicated that al-Ramouni's death did not seem to be a suicide.
News of his death, and rumors he had been murdered, led to clashes in al-Ramouni's hometown of al-Tur.
