HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained two Palestinians from the southern West Bank town of Beit Ummar on Thursday afternoon, a local spokesman.

Muhammad Ayyad Awad of the Beit Ummar Popular Committee against the Israeli Separation Wall and Settlements identified the detainees as 22-year-old Iyad Ali Khalil Sabarna and 21-year-old Rushdi Nasri Rashid Sabarna.

Awad said that the two were detained at checkpoints Israeli troops set at the main entrances to the town.

An Israeli military spokeswoman did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
