[Thursday, February 5, 2014] Palestinian media sources have reported that Israeli soldiers kidnapped, four Palestinians in Qalqilia, Hebron, and occupied Jerusalem.
The sources said that several Israeli military jeeps invaded the town of Azzoun, east of the northern West Bank city of Qalqilia, just before midnight, and surrounded a Coffee Shop before breaking into it, and kidnapping two Palestinians.
The two have been identified as Odai Hamza Hussein, 23, and Ahmad Yousef Salim, 23, and took them to an unknown destination.
Local sources said that, several days ago, the army invaded Azzoun, and handed the two young men military warrants ordering them to head to a nearby military base for interrogation.
On Wednesday evening, soldiers installed a roadblock in an area south of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and kidnapped a Palestinian resident.
Local sources said the soldiers kidnapped Mo’tasem Abu Torky, 30, and took him to another roadblock near the Ibrahimi Mosque before transferring him to an unknown destination.
Earlier on Wednesday, soldiers kidnapped a Palestinian lawyer, from occupied East Jerusalem, allegedly after he tried to smuggle a mobile phone to a Palestinian political prisoner, held at the Majeddo Israeli prison.
Israeli sources said the soldiers arrested a 34-year old Palestinian lawyer, after searching him using a metal detector.
The army said soldiers asked the lawyer whether he had another phone with him, and he responded negatively, but they “located a Palestinian mobile phone on him” after searching him.
The lawyer will be sent to the District Court in Nazareth on Thursday. He told the interrogators he completely forgot he carried his other phone.
To ensure cell coverage, Palestinians who work in Israel and the occupied territories usually carry two phones, Palestinian and Israeli.
Palestinian detainees, held by Israel, are denied the right to phone their families or even lawyers; their only communication with the outer world is during family visits that are very short and restricted, held behind bars and fences.
Earlier on Wednesday, soldiers kidnapped several Palestinians, including three near the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and one near the central West Bank city of Tubas.
