BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces carried out multiple arrest raids across the West Bank early Wednesday, detaining 25 Palestinian men, locals said.
Israeli military vehicles raided the Jenin village of Yabad at around 2 a.m. and ransacked several homes before detaining eight young men aged 20-22.
Alaa Adnan Abu Bakr, his brother Bahaa, Yasser Muhammad Amarnah, Khalid Jamal Abu Bakr, Yousif Qays Amarnah, Jawad Abdul-Afou Abu Bakr, Fuad Omar Abu Bakr and Tariq Hasan Abbadi were identified as those arrested.
Three more raids targeted the Nablus village of Beita, where Israeli troops detained 9 people. Locals said three were detained in the al-Ras neighborhood.
They were identified as 22-year-old Hilal Mustafa Bani Shamsa and his brothers Amir, 20, and Najim, 16. A fourth brother Izz Addin had been detained three years ago.
In the eastern neighborhood of Beita, Israeli forces detained Miqdam Ribhi Hamayil, 19, Salim Mustafa Hamayil, 20, Yousif Kharboush, 40, and Nidal Kharboush, 41.
Israeli forces launched a third arrest raid in the western neighborhood of the village where they detained Islam Hamid Uweid, 17, and Ayyoub Riyad Jaghoub, 20.
Ma'an reporters across the West Bank confirmed that Israeli forces detained two young Palestinians in Nabi Saleh village west of Ramallah, two in el-Arrub refugee camp north of Hebron and one in the town of Dura, south of Hebron.
In the town of Anata in East Jerusalem, Israeli forces detained 26-year-old Adel Samih Rifaai after ransacking his home after midnight.
Family members said Israeli soldiers "brutally" broke into the house before they detained Rifaai.
Locals highlighted that Israeli troops broke into several other houses in the town.
In Hebron, Israeli forces detained 63-year-old Yousif Hasan al-Furoukh from Sair. The Palestinian Prisoner's Society quoted al-Furoukh's son Iyas as saying that Israeli troops raided their house after midnight after breaking down the main door.
The soldiers forced all 16 family members to go to the street before they detained al-Furoukh.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said 24 people were arrested overnight for "illegal activity". Eight were detained in Yabad, 9 in Beita, two in Nabi Saleh, two in el-Arrub, two in Anata and one in Dura.
Palestinians living in the occupied territories are routinely arrested by Israeli forces, usually on the pretext of security.
Around 40 percent of Palestinian men living in the occupied territories have been detained by Israel at some point in their lives.
