JERICHO (Ma’an) – Israeli forces detained an elderly Palestinian man and his son in the village of al-Auja north of Jericho after storming the family home, the Palestinian prisoners society said.

The Jericho office of the group said that Israeli soldiers assaulted 69-year-old Nayif Abdullah Nujoum and his 30-year-old son Muhammad before the two were detained.

The elderly man sustained neck bruises as a result.

The statement quoted family members as saying that the soldiers damaged the interior of the house during the raid. Muhammad, according to the statement, was freed from Israel’s custody only a week ago.

An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed two arrests in al-Auja overnight.
