Description
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Palestinian Authority security forces launched an arrest campaign in a Tubas refugee camp on Monday after PA forces clashed with gunmen overnight, locals said.
Unknown gunmen opened fire at PA forces late Sunday as they raided al-Fara refugee camp to make an arrest, witnesses said.
PA security personnel exchanged fire but were forced to withdraw from the camp after Molotov cocktails were thrown at them.
Security forces later returned and arrested five people in the camp.
Two people were wounded during the clashes, named by locals as Ibrahim Abu Qamar and Muhammad Suboh.
Camp residents blocked a main road to Nablus with trash bins and rocks following the clashes, with PA security forces eventually maintaining control of the situation.
A man was shot dead last Tuesday during clashes between Palestinian Authority security forces and gunmen in Askar refugee camp in Nablus.
Amjad Odeh, 37, was reportedly killed in the crossfire during a gun battle in the camp following a PA arrest raid.
