Description
JERUSALEM, July 8, 2013 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers Monday attempted to set up a tent on a Palestinian property on the Mount of Olive, east of Jerusalem, leading to confrontations during which settlers injured a Palestinian in the head, said witnesses.
They told WAFA that the settlers attempted to set up a tent on a land under the pretext that they own it, which lead to confrontations between the settlers and the residents of surrounding homes.
The settlers attacked one of the residents and hit him in the head, after which he was transferred to hospital.
One of the witnesses said that a group of settler raided the 110-dunum land adjacent to their house which belongs to the Islamic Waqf since hundreds of years, pointing out that this is not the first time settlers try to raid land and take over it.
Advisor on Jerusalem affairs to the Palestinian President's Office, Ahmed Al-Ruweidi said that this is a systematic act, pointing out that Israeli settlers announced that they will take over 40 Palestinian-owned properties.
