Four Hunger Striking Detainees Forced Into Solitary Confinement
Description
by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies

[Wednesday June 12] the Prison Administration of the Negev Detention Camp forced four hunger striking detainees into solitary confinement in an attempt to force them to quit their strike.

The four detainees, members of the Hamas movement, are held without charges under arbitrary Administrative Detention orders.

Head of the Ahrar Center for Detainees Studies and Human Rights, Fuad Al-khoffash, stated that the four detainees started their strike two days ago, demanding Israel to release them, and protesting the cruel treatment, and the extremely difficult conditions they face.

Al-Khoffash added that the four detainees were first moved into a room in section 9 of the detention camp, and were later moved into solitary confinement.

The four are Samir Bheiss, 42, from Yatta near Hebron, Moayyad Sharab from Awarta near Nablus, Anas Jadallah from Nablus, and Basem Dweikat from Beta village, near Nablus.

Al-Khoffash stated that the detainees face extreme hot climate in the Negev desert, are constantly harassed and their rights are repeatedly violated by the soldiers.

He called on human rights groups to intervene and stop the escalating Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, especially the detainees held by Israel in dozens of prisons and detention camp and deprived from their basic, internationally guaranteed rights.
