NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 16 people in the West Bank overnight Tuesday, locals and Israel's army said.

Israeli forces arrested Izz Addin Salah Druzah, 22, and Raed Sayigh in central Nablus and Ahmad as-Sarf, 24, in Askar refugee camp, locals said.

In Beit Furik, Saddam Salam Hanini, Faris Salim, Fuad Fawwaz Hanini, Rasim Raed Khatatba, Tamir Kamal Hanini and his brother Jamil were detained as Israeli forces raided homes in the Nablus village.

Israeli troops also detained Ahmad Jamal Mabrouka, 20, at Huwwara checkpoint.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said 16 people were detained overnight, five in Beit Furik, four in Ramallah, three in Nilin, two in Duheisha refugee camp, one in Nablus and one in Budros.

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are routinely arrested by Israeli forces, usually on the pretext of security questioning.

Wednesday at dawn, May 8 2013, Israeli soldiers invaded the northern West Bank district of Nablus, and kidnapped nine Palestinians. The soldiers also fired several rounds of live ammunition into the air, broke into and searched several homes, and confiscated property.

Local sources in Nablus city reported that dozens of Israeli military jeeps invaded several neighborhoods in the city, and kidnapped three Palestinians after breaking into and searching their homes.

The three have been identified as Raed As-Sabbagh, Ez Ed-Deen Drouza, and Ahmad As-Sous. Soldiers also broke into homes of former political prisoners, and searched them.

Furthermore, the army invaded Beit Forik town, east of Nablus, and kidnapped six Palestinians.

Eyewitnesses reported that the soldiers kidnapped Saddam Hanany, Fares Hanany, Fuad Hanany, Tamer Hanany Jamil Hanany and Rased Khatabta.

The soldiers also confiscated several personal computers and laptops that belong to the kidnapped residents, and caused property damage in the attacked homes, and in a number of streets.

Also on Wednesday, Israeli soldiers kidnapped the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, after surrounding his home and breaking into it. The Mufti was moved to the Al-Maskobiyya police stations and interrogation center.
