Description
NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities on Thursday transferred some 30 Palestinian prisoners to administrative detention, without charge or trial, a human rights group said.
Osama Makboul, an attorney for the International Solidarity Foundation for Human Rights, said Israeli prosecutors expected to transfer the prisoners within 48 hours.
Israeli authorities claimed the 30 prisoners were involved in solidarity events for Gaza, Makboul said.
The 30 detainees are leaders from Hamas and Islamic Jihad and university students among others, he noted.
Moayed Sharab, Tahseen Shuli and Anas Joud Allah, all from Nablus, were transferred to administrative detention for six months, he said.
Israel's policy of administrative detention allows the country to hold prisoners for renewable terms of six months without pressing charges.
Overnight, Israeli forces detained 55 Palestinians in raids across the West Bank.
