Description
JERUSALEM, September 10, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli Forces Monday ordered six Palestinian families from Wadi Helwa, an area in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, to demolish their private-owned houses, under the pretext of building without permit, according to the Information Center of Wadi Helwa.
Director of the center Jawad Syam said Israeli forces handed the residents demolition orders of their houses, which were built after 1992, issued based on the Israeli Planning and Building Law of 1965, as well as photographed the houses.
“Residents vowed that they will never leave their land and will set up tents on their houses ruins if they were demolished,” he added.
The Israeli Planning and Building Law of 1965 is a statute that allows the state to demolish homes deemed “a public nuisance.”
