Description
HEBRON, August 25, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers Saturday cut off 30 olive trees near the town of Yatta, south of Hebron, according to the member of the popular committee against settlements and the Apartheid Wall in Yatta, Rateb Jbour.
He said settlers from Ma’on settlement, in east of Yatta, stormed Palestinian-owned land in the nearby al-Hamra area and cut off 30 trees, as well as sprayed racist and anti-Arab slogans on water wells.
The settlers attempted to poison the water wells that the farmers use for irrigation, added Jbour.
Israeli forces announced al-Hamra as a closed military area and handed landowners notices prohibiting them from accessing the land, said Jbour, adding that these Israeli policies and ongoing harassment aim to take over the land for settlement expansion.
