by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies
Israeli soldiers kidnapped, on Monday at dawn, five Palestinians in different parts of the West Bank and took them to unknown destination; the kidnappings took place after the army invaded several cities, towns and villages and searched dozens of homes.
Local sources reported that the army invaded the towns Tammoun, Al-Far’a, in the central West Bank district of Tubas, and the towns of Zabbouba, Methalon and Raba, near the northern West Bank city of Jenin, and kidnapped one resident in addition to interrogating two other residents. Soldiers also broke into and searched dozens of homes in the invaded towns.
Fifteen homes were invaded in Tammoun town alone; the army then kidnapped resident Omar Mohammad Bani-Odah, 25, and interrogated dozens of residents; soldiers claimed they were searching for “wanted Palestinians”.
Soldiers also held military drills in Raba meadow, west of Jenin, and fired dozens of flares while hundreds of soldiers were deployed in open areas.
Furthermore, soldiers invaded Hebron City, in the southern part of the West Bank, and broke into the home of Zen Ed-Deen Mahmoud Shabana, 43, cuffed and blindfolded him before taking him to the Etzion military base, north of Hebron.
Shabana was repeatedly arrested by the Palestinian security forces, and was released seven months ago after spending more than a year at a Palestinian prison.
Hamas movement sources claimed that he was also tortured during interrogation.
Israeli soldiers conduct invasions and arrests in different parts of the West Bank on a daily basis, these invasions include breaking into homes, different facilities and installing dozens of sudden roadblocks.
In a recent report, the International Solidarity Foundation for Human Rights stated that Israeli soldiers escalated, in April, their illegal measures against the Palestinian people on military roadblocks all over the West Bank, and on border terminals leading to Gaza, and kidnapped 29 Palestinians on these roadblocks.
The army also detained and interrogated dozens of residents on these roadblocks, and searched dozens of vehicles while inspecting the ID cards of the residents.
